In the beginning, you didn't have a face.

A void heavy with an invitation,

“Even what you have forgotten,

rises and expands.”

And I understood,

I am being asked to let go of the string

without engaging my hands.

To confuse the impulse

with what it commands.

That’s when your eyes finally arrived,

fluttering like new born butterflies.

gatekeepers,

sibyls weaving prophesies for an age of thirst,

for the children of the marshlands.
